..... ..and she already is getting the best of me!
WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE ME BY THE HAND AND TELL ME EXACTLY WHERE THE DARN SERIAL NUMBER WOULD BE?
I guess one needs to be REAL specific with me.

Congratulations on your new "baby." John Smith has an outstanding site dedicated to N's, and one part is devoted to helping identify the differences between them. You can check it out by clicking here.

Good luck with it..... ..Ed

I don't know how to highlight it like he does, but here is a link I hope to Tyler Neff's great site that shows his 9N with the serial number boss right behind the oil filter. Hope this helps.

The serial number is located on the mid-left side of the engine block on an approximately 1/2"x 3" vertical flat. The serial number is hand-stamped onto the vertical flat, not cast into the engine block.

Format is model designation before sequential production number. Serial numbers for the 9N and 2N Ford begin with the designation "9N." Serial numbers for the 8N Ford begin with the designation "8N."

This is a hand stamped number.

My Peterson and Beemer's Originality Guide has S#'s 442035 to 524076 made in 1952. I understand that the last number is a little suspect, but can't be verified because the records were lost to a fire.

Jim,
I guess it could be one of the last made. I've always tried to stay with late model equipment. ;)

You're right Fess. It's a '52. Found it on this site under serial numbers. Imagine that. :)
