Picked up an 8N the other day, it has a valve and pipe that goes down to the bottom of the rear end. Is it maybe somebodys way of taping in to the hyd system?? If so would it really work or would it be one of those tie the lift arms down to get any thing??
Thanks

Does the pipe attach to what appears to be a nut
about where your right heel is . If so, it's a tap into the hydraulics which allows a one way
external hydraulic cylinder to operate if you tie
down the lift arms. I used to use it for a snowplow.

Yep, I figure we will remove it because it will not really work well if at all

Though the downside is that you have to chain the lift arms down.. it does work.. and many tractors used that as a means of external hyds..

Most often used for a loader cylinder. Brackets were sold to wrap around axle housing, and a longer pin went through the lift arn that was captured in the top part of the strap to hold the arms down. Raising the quadrant lever would redirect the oil flow to the one way loader cylinder to raise the bucket arms. Generally was a spring trip arrangement on the actual bucket.
