What"s the story on the 9N positive ground system?

What"s the theory on it or how is it supposed to function?

I"ve tried to locate information on this and noone seems to know.

Appreciate any info you"ve got or direction you can point me in.

Thanks!

Simply connect the (+) terminal of the battery to chassis ground, and the (-) battery terminal to the starter switch, polarize the generator to be sure it's polarity matches that of the battery, and you're "good to go".

It is simply an alternate way of doing things from the more common (in this modern era) negative ground system.

The original front-mount square can coil is designed to deliver negative-going spark pulses to the spark plugs, when the battery is connected in the designed fashion. If the battery is connected "negative ground", the spark's effectiveness (at the spark plugs) will be reduced 20 to 30 percent. The engine will still run, but there's an increased chance of an occasional miss-fire.
