There has been a lot of questions over the years about threads on this part and that. Here"s a handy little tool. Got "blades" like a feeler gauge but the edges are serrated to match up with different thread pitches. A caliper witll give you diameter and this little puppy will tell you threads per inch.

On the tractors it won't be an issue, but for anyone working on a car, for example, be careful, some imperial sizes and metric sizes are REALLY close, an example is a #8-32 and 5mm. Also, there are some other oddballs out there, I don't know if any of the european tractors imported here would have standard North American thread sizes or not, particularly if pre-war. (For those that don't know, Henry Ford's 'production line' helped standardize parts in North America, unfortunately, it took a war to help standardize things around the world, and, not all of it is to this day.)

If anyone has a size that they don't know, ask, and I'll look it up in my machining books. My email is open in case someone wants to ask me about this some time from the archives or whatever as well.

Mark

I got the same one at my local Ace Hardware. They keep "em in the same area as drill bits and taps and dies.
