1953 NAA

I recently purchased a floor jack ( 2 Ton) and two jack stands. I’ve never jacked the tractor up before, but read the horror stories on the board about accidents. I would like to adjust the brakes, and or replace the shoes as necessary. Some basic questions…Where should I place the floor jack to raise the tractor? Should I let the floor jack hold the tractor up and place the jack stands underneath the rear axles as a safety measure or let the jack stands carry the weight and leave the floor jack in place as a safety measure. Is it necessary to block the front wheels? I’ll be working in ½ of my two car garage, kind of close, but flat & level (but a bit cold). Thanks in advance for the answers

Randy..... ..ENNYTIME you jack a vehicle ALLWAYS BLOCK the wheels, NO EXCEPTIONS..... UNDERSTAND???

As for jacking your NAA to adjust yer brakes, jack up under the diffy (I always use a block of wood to cushion the jackpoint) Then jackstands under the rearaxle trumpets. drop the jack and rest the tractor weight on the jackstands. Thats what they are for.

You'll want to leave yer reartires ON, for leverage to rotate yer brakedrums while you adjust yer brake star-wheel till brakeshoes drag on drum as you swing yer reartire. Piece o'cake..... ...Dell
