I have ordered my brake and seal parts and will tackle the job soon if I get a nice weekend. I have done many automotive brake jobs over the years and I usually resurface the drums or rotors (especially on older vehicles with nonmetallic linings) to increase braking power, decrease noise and help break in the linings. Is this advised or necessary when doing the brake job on my tractor?

Really not needed on a tractor cuz most of yer stop’n is slow speed. I do turn’em cuz I got a brake lath that has’ta pay fer its self.

Paul, I'm not sure what advice others will give you but my advice is if the drums arent badly scored or pitted just clean up the brake surface area with a "scotchie" and be done with it. My jubilee has over 4000 hours on the proofmeter and the drums are like new, had just surface rust. The drums dont get the heat and distortion like car drums do and you wont be doing any 60mph panic stops.

Yea like HOOKER said the big spring can be a bear but if you been doing automotive brakes you must own a pair of "brake spring plyers" Use them and it will be alot easier.
