Well the last rebuilt starter which was #2 was the one that the housing bearing slipped out of the front housing. I posted something about it a week or so ago.
Now its replacement (#3) started sounding wierd today. I pulled it and heard something metal falling into the flywheel area. Upon checking out the starter grear I noticed what fell which was one of the teeth on the starter gear.
I checked my flywheel its not screaming anything that would cause this gear to fail.
Are the parts they rebuild these things with so crappy that thier life is under daily use 1 week?
Im going to call the "car quest" parts guy in the morning to order a replacement as its under warrantee. This game is getting tired, Im wondering if I should have bought which was more expensive through a dealer or maybe even this site.
Ive seen engine rebuild kits on Ebay at comparable prices to this site. I have yet to purchase anything here but I am going to with the rebuild kit, besides all the info I pulled concerning how to rebuild and so on all came from here.
Fortunatly I will be coming into a bit of cash, due to all the storms we have had here in Southern Ca, my house got some fairly good flood damage. My Fema inspector has assured me there will be sufficient funding to get my 9n in shape. Thanks George Bush
