Hey guys, what gear do you run your 8-N to disc? Pulling a five foot tandem disc. How much time per acre? Thanks!

Takes me 4 days to plow an acre.

2 days listening to my wife complain about the weeds.

1 day to think about it

1 day to start the tractor and ride all around the neighborhood on my tractor having fun

2 hours to plow the weeds nice and slow, cause when I"m done my wife will have more chores for me to do...

I've got a light duty 6' lift disk that I use with my 8N. I can run in 3rd where it's pretty flat (and lift the disk for turns). I don't add weight to my disk, but by adjusting the toplink I can increase/decrease the cut.
In 2nd I make my turns with the disk in the dirt...

I would have expected to hear that you have broken a lift arm by turning around with the disc on the ground. Other than minor steering corrections I NEVER turn with an implement on the ground except my mowers, back blade or york rake on the ground.

It takes me about an hour/acre with a 5' disc. However I usually end up having to go over it a couple maybe three times to get it good with my soil (silt loam). Always either too wet or dry. Use lots of weight on your disc.

3 mph with a tool 3 ft wide will cover an acre in 1 hr
