I got an opertunity today to get a 5ft finish mower for $250.
It has some surface rust but otherwise in great great shape.
It needs a wheel assembly on one corner.
He snagged a tree with it and bent the forks on the wheel.
This is the best deal I have found on a finish mower. He will even bring it to my house.
I called over to the co-op today to price a wheel assembly and it was $40. Wondering if I can get it cheaper somewhere.
The brand name on the finish mower is Big Bee.
It has greaseable spindles and is in great shape.
What ya'll think and where can I get a wheel.

Thanks.

I have a Big Bee 48" and bought it new in 96 for $950.00 (cheapest I could find many wanted $1300). I have bent the wheel assembly a couple of times and just take it apart and put it on the vise and bend it back. Even if it is not perfect, it works fine. It has been a good mower and in that time I have replaced the belt once. I was thinkin of selling mine to buy a Bush hog brand 6' rear discharge unit ($$$) I would hate it if that is all I could get for my old one though. Sorry to ramble.
Geo.

I admit it. I'm a tightwad. Big time.

Naw, not complaining. Just wondering if I can get a part somewhere cheaper. Money has been to hard to come by in recent years. So don't want to spend no more than I have to. I am sure I can straighten the wheel like it is. Already thought of several ways to do it.

Thanks.

Is the actual wheel damaged or just the fork?

A welding shop should be able to easily straighten and repair a bent fork, especially if you happen to be in an agricultural area.

It is just the fork. Spindle comes down and meets a flat piece, then the "tines" of the fork come down to the wheel axle. The flat piece is twisted slightly. I might could straighten it. But if I can't wondering what a replacement can be gotten for. The mower will mow fine with the wheel like it is. But if trying to backup the wheel won't swivel around all the way. It hits the mower deck. This is a rear wheel.
