Will be changing valve(leaking)should I use tape going to tank? Thanks for information.

Use teflon tape, better than anything else and impervious to gasoline.

It may be ugly, but you might try gasket sealant on/over the threads. I used it to stop slow leaks throughout my fuel system. Just let it cure good before getting gas on it

Pretty is only skin deep.
