Hey N folks

I ran out to the shop this morning before work and snapped a few pics to show my progress.

I got the third coat of red paint on all the red parts last Saturday morning. While I was waiting for paint to dry, I went upstairs where I'm storing the grey parts and painted the script on the hood. I had put decals on the scripts but didn't like the way they looked so I peeled them off and brush painted them. It looks kind of sloppy up close but from 5 feet away they look ok. Still better than the decals.

Since the third coat of red paint looks alot like the second coat pictures that I posted last Friday, I also included some pics of the grey parts which I finished up last fall. I've been storing them in my wood shop while I've been working on the running gear.

I've started putting the red parts of the tractor together. Once I'm finished with that its on to the black and pseudo-cadmium(silver paint) parts. You can see I've started working on the steering wheel (filling with PC-7 epoxy).

Looks REAL nice!!

Mines all torn down for rebuild/painting also. I was planing on sprying it all, but after reading Dells [think it was dell anyway] painting tips, I just may go the brush, then finish with a light spray painting plan.

I gotta say that your machine is looking really nice. I am jealous of your nice, straight, clean grill. Ours isn"t ..... .. as pretty.

Thanks a lot Dad.

Hey, I had another thought on your water level dropping. Is it possible that the water was hot or still warm when It was a quarter inch above the fins, cooled down some when it was at the fins and dead cold when It was below the fins?

Very possible - does the heat make a difference in level? Sorry to hijack your thread.

Thanks,
Dan

Oh Yeah.

The water expands when It"s hot. Consider the plastic overflow reservoir in modern vehicles. The water comes up when hot, back down when cool. Anyway, the good news is I think we may have hit on one of your big worries. Just make sure when you check the level from one day to the next that the water is the same temp.
