I installed the new sleeves in my Jubilee engine today, and I am glad to say that it went quite well. I had them in the freezer for about 4 hours, and they went in with about 10 good whacks with a 3 pound sledge hammer and a block of wood, after doing it, Im not really sure if freezing them actually helped or not, I think they would have went in anyway.

Troy..... ....yeah, the freezer trick helps to start the cold-shrunk sleeve down the warmer block cylinder. Unfortunately, doesn't take long before the warmth of the engine block expands yer sleeves and ya gotta use a 3# hammer to drive'm home.

I like to suggest that you make a "spool" outta some jigsaw cut plywood ends (don't haffta be too tight or roundy) and a LONG threaded rod with 4-nuts and fill the resultant "cavity" inside the sleeve with chips of dry-ice. (see yellow pages for dry-ice, cheap) The -100*F dry-ice will keep yer sleeve shrunk and you can EAZILY SEAT yer sleeve in the warm block cylinder hole. Un-screw the readi-rod nuts and catch yer dry-ice chips to fill the next sleeve. Simple, eh?..... ....respectfully, Dell, oh yeah, wear gloves!!!!

Dell, I had remembered from, an earlier post, about the dry ice, so i was calling around yesterday morning, to try and locate some, before i jumped in to the project, but the nearest dry ice was 40 miles, at the soooper doooper Wal-Mart, so i decided to go ahead and try it without. One place, I called, a girl answered, and when I asked about dry ice, she paused for a minute, and said, I'm not sure what that is, but i don't think we have any. She must have evidently failed 8th grade science.

I searched all over town for the dry to use for the Dell method. My neighbor that works at a welding supply heard me talking about the dry ice shearch at church. The welding supply company made the ice to sell mainly to the hospital. They sell the ice for 10 dollars minimum. Ten dollars worth is enough to pack every sleeve and have enough left over to play with. The sleeves fell in the block very easy. Then I made a pretty good size fog cloud in the yard.

She probably needed you to say "carbonic gas" and she would have known. :)
