I have a seat on one of my 8Ns that has the fancier seat option with the twin seat springs at the rear of the seat. These look like some rubber compound or rubber coated something. But they are busted and I want to rebuild it.

Any one know where I can get replacements?
Ane one know how to tear this thing apart?

Many Thanks in advance!
Patrick

Patrick,

These seats were an option on the 100 series tractors. They are called Rest-O-Ride Seat. I have mine apart now to repaint and replace the brass bushings.

Get a parts catalog for the 100 series Ford tractors and it will show an exploaded view. There are two large roll pins that attach the main seat rods to the base, there are two bolts that attach the hinge to the rods, there are roll pins that attach the adustment shaft to the rubber springs, there are roll pins that attach the rubber springs to the rods. There is a long bolt that attaches to pan to the hinge assembly.

Now that you have it apart, there are 8 bushings that may be worn, some more than others. FNH has the bushings available for around $60.00. If you take all the bushings to a bearing supply house they can replace them for about $2.00 each. They may have to order them, but so will FNH.

Good luck,

Pat- I see them advertised on E-bay all the time for the Rest-O-Ride seat. Think they run somewhere less than $80.00 I've got that seat on my 8N and it is more comfortable than the standard seat. Never had mine apart, but I think a couple of roll pins and a couple of bolts and it should come apart. Good luck
