I was over at my dad's the other day doing some disking and I kept hearing the fan blade cliping something. Could not find any sign of contact any where. Then I heard some of the worst noise from the fan. Shut it off and found one of the blades had broken in half. It was laying about 6' away. Looked at the radiator for the worst but none. All I need is a fan and it will be good as new. Lucky I guess. This time I was the windshield not the bug.

My Bessie threw a fan blade last fall -- I was lucky as well - just creased the hood. Take the old fan off, take the water pump off, put the new fan up in there, put the water pump back on, bolt the new fan to the water pump shaft.
I had to hammer the devil out of the old one to get it off, but the water pump seal and bearing took it OK! Good luck.
