Gas question

My 8n front mount went through about a half gallon of gas in 10 min. Way to much me thinks. I think the carb is set wrong, but could it be that off? The exhaust was still coming out of the oil cap as well, even after the paint thinner treatment. I am considering the Mystery Oil, but want to pour some ATF down the tubes first before i spend the money. Would this work and how much should I pour?

Thanks again

I searched the internet for stuck rings and ATF and saw all kinds of ways to free rings. Some guys use vinegar to dissolve the rust. The common thread was the rings will most generally free up if you run an hour or so. Maybe several hours.
You got something else going on to use that much gas. Maybe your can has a leak.

You might put the solvent in there each day for three or four days to loosen up the rings. Maybe 6 days. Maybe they are stuck for the long haul.
Hard, hard to believe you got 1/2gal of gas through that carb in 10-minutes. Hard to believe; unless it was running on the ground.
Try a spoonful or two of ATF in each cylinder for a day and then again if it didn"t take.
Maybe a spoonful or two of a mix of solvent and ATF. ATF is good for wiping stuff down to remove dust and grime but it"s short of a good solvent to my thinking.
I"m not sure you get much more from MMO but you might find a pint can pretty cheap but I usually see it in a quart. They mix it in the gas but they don"t put much in there.

Check your oil in reply to Rob, 04-01-2005 14:31:46
Unless your engine was putting out several hundred horsepower for those ten minutes, that gas had to go somewhere.
Either it leaked out on the ground, or it got spit out thru the exaust, or it is all in your oil pan. CHECK YOUR OIL. And check the condition of your oil.
