Someone tell me what is making oil be pushed out my dip-stick tube on my 8N. Checked the filter in the oil filer cap and it seems to be okay. What else could it be?

Our first 9N had so much blow-by that it
would easily blow the dipstick out of the
hole when revved.
One rebuild kit later sanity was restored.
I hope you arn't in the same camp.

Be sure that the engine is not about full of a mixture of gasoline and oil. This happens all too often with the gravity fuel supply on the Ford tractors when the gas valve is not turned off after each use.

Wouldn't fuel flow out of the carb before it gravity-flowed into the engine?

No it won't. A little will come out of the drain filter if it isn't completely plugged but I have seen a crankcase litterally full of gasoline many times over the years when the needle sticks and the tank is full.

Believe it!

Check your breather cap, it could be plugged up. This is the cap where you add oil. Also check that it is not over-full. If all is good, then sounds like you have broken rings and is allowing all the compression to be forced into the oil pan. I think you will find your breather cap is plugged. ?Good luck.

Not only check the oil breather cap but also the
tube itself, could be plugged. The crankcase has
to be able to breath and it is the only
ventilation of the crankcase. I never have had any
problem with my N but years ago I did have the
same problem in an old Pontiac I owned, found by
taking the tube off and banging it on a solid
object knocking a lot of crap out of there. Newer
vehicles have PCV valves, same thing.

Thanks everyone for the help. Tractor hasn't been run for over 5 min. a couple of times in almost a year. Have had it down for paint and other work. Ran it today for a while and no problem. Must have been a ring stuck and just needed to run and warm-up. Thanks again, Sarge from MS.
