I have an old generator, I believe about 5kw. The engine did work when I fired it up about 10 years ago. I was told this engine was probably an 8n ford tractor engine. I'm not sure, how can I know. I do know it is not punched out for a fuel pump. It is machined on the block, but the fuel is gravity fed. I wish to know for sure so I can sell the block. Not many hours on the hour meter. It's just one of many items in the back acerage taking up space. Don't want much, just want it gone. Can anyone help with Identification.

Wow, I've split my International in half twice and replaced the clutch. Thats easy compared to this computer stuff. I'm trying to get you some photos. Let me know if these work. I have more. But I thought digital was easy..... ....
Let me know if your interested. I'm up here in Eastern Washington, (Spokane area). If your not, I'm going to list it on Ebay for a starting bid of $100.00. Pie in the sky? Let me know. Rod LaFrance

Went out to take pictures, battery on camera went dead. But it looks just like the industrial 8n engine Steve B linked to. No starter, mag in front. Could not find serial numbers anywhere. Will get photos in the am and send. Thanks

Try this from parts and pieces. It could also have a megneto setup instead of the distributor.

Got your E-Mail. I'm not sure when that Dam was built but the flat head ford N engine was built from 1939 to 1952. 1939 until 1949 or 1950 had a front mount distributor and the 1951 and 1952 had side mount distributor. If you are standing looking at the fan the side mount distr. would be sticking out the left side of the engine. The front mount would be on the front of the engine behind the left side of the fan. Send me the info and I'll help you all I can.

First clue is flat head 4 cyl.
Second my e-mail is open send me a picture if you can. Also if it is an 8N it should have a serial# on the top of the head and the side of the block.
If you can post back with either of those I or someone can tell you.
