Looking for a pair of the lift arm "extensions" apparently used with the Dearborn 14-16 mower. Are these necessary to operate the mower? Also looking for the special top-link bracket used with mower. Thanks.

It's been a long time but I have used that mower behind an 8N to mow hay more times than I care to remember.

I believe that you could use a couple of lengths of chain instead of the extensions. I'd have to think about how to get by without the top link bracket.

I wonder why they made that thing that way to begin with?????

Hi Rick,

When you find a set let me know, I have a 14-15 mower with the same problem. I ended up making some out of round stock. Here is the link to a message in the archives I used to make mine. Do you have the add on bracket that goes to the top link rocker on the tractor? If you don"t, they are listed from time to time on ebay. Let me know, I can post a pic of the bracket for you.

Good luck with the extention links.

I have the extension links plus the bracket for my 2 14-16 mowers. Before I found them on a tractor at an auction and bought them from the guy that bought the tractor, I made a set out of 3/8" pipe from the hardware store. I believe 7" outside to outside? ( You have to ream the "T" so the pins will fit. Also, do you have the right stay bracket with the ball for the release arm? You need that also.

Rick WY;

I dont know why they designed the mower the way they did either. The Ferguson mower was the same way. You had to have the lift arm extensions to make the mower mount up and work right. The top link had slotted plates that bolted to each side of the link. I believe there is a chain with a clevis bolted to the mower. The clevis hooked over the top link to hold the mower up for transport. And probably to hold the mower in position when mowing. I hope y"all aren too confused with this. Itis getting late. If all the extra peices were there I could probably mount the mower to the tractor. But I dont know if I could put the cream separater together any more.

Occaisionally I see all of these items pop up on eBay. All but the lift arm knuckle extensions should be easily found in a junk yard. If you want me to go look, i think i know where some toplink brackets and swivel stay-bar brackets are at the local salvage place. No extensions, though. Let me know and I can go get 'em and send em to ya for what I pay plus shipping.
