Henry Ford, Harry ferguson and their engineers were smart men. just the fact that we have all these 40-66 year old tractors still running has to prove something. ALWAYS use a top link and anyother items that go with attaching an implement to the 3 pt or anywhere else you might attach something to the tractor. It takes at least 4-5 seconds to push the clutch in and 1/2 a second to flip a tractor. Next item: old top links, cheap off-shore links, pins and more I don't like them or trust them! An original top link in good cond. with proper grade bolts holding it together and hasn't been abused on 50-100 hp tractor, is my choice. These tractors are very safe to operate, but operator can make them DEADLY. BURT. Happy "tractoring"

I have never flipped a tractor so do not know how long it takes. I have how-ever had to push in the clutch several times to keep it from flipping. I realize that my reaction time is getting slower everyday but, the last time it was tested, pushing in clutch was faster than flipping tractor. I do how-ever agree with you about a top link. I have had the front wheel off the ground several time and I never pull anything from above the rear axle. I realize that an argument can be made that the configuration of pulling below the axle would allow the wheels to slip before permitting the front to lift, but when working with a tractor anything can and will happen ..... ....E. Gee, Burt, run for Congress, get some LAWS passed! With luck you can legislate these dangerous machines clean out of existence.

You'll offend some of these guys that want ONLY the CHEAPEST stuff they can find... it makes 'em HAPPY.

And what am I missing here, four to five SECONDS to push the clutch down??? That's as logical as dragging logs at 9 miles an hour through the woods! I'll need to learn how to drive all over again.

Where do these people come from??? duey

I agree with you 100%. There are a lot of posts saying that the implement will prevent a flip over...i don't believe it. The only thing that would prevent the tractor from flipping is the top link pin on the implement...and many folks just use any old bolt instead of a proper pin.
The first thing i bought for my 8N is a ROPs from Saf-T-Cab and i hope i never have to test it out.
