I found a jubilee but the sheet metal is BAD. Is the sheet metal available and what would be considered a good price. not running but free and no weld visable?

www.mikestractors.com has the whole hood including grill for around $500.00 the only thing not included is the dash pan for the gauges.

A reasonable price would be about $1000, a good price would be about $750, a great price would be around $500. You can part a Jubilee out in good shape and get at least $1500. I have seen full sheet metal go for $200 on eBay. If you are mechanically inclined and don't mind getting dirty, you should be able to get it back on it's feet with minimum costs, then evaluate your direction from there.

Good luck,
Dan

Are you sure about that? in reply to Dan, 04-09-2005 19:02:58
Dan, how can you say with any certainty that you can get that tractor going with a minimum of costs, when it does not run? Unless you have time to tinker with it (Compression test, etc) to evaluate it before you buy, you've gotta figure on a complete overhaul of the engine at minimum.

The clutch transmission and rear end may have issues. The hydraulics might need a lot of work.

I would not give more than $500 for a tractor in that condition, if tires are servicable, too much of a gamble to pay more than that.

I can say that because I bought a $600 NAA sight unseen with a stuck engine, completely destroyed transmission, , shot steering box, missing hydraulic parts, rusted through sheet metal, and shot wheels. I have fully rebuilt the engine (including all machine work), replaced the head, fully replaced the transmission, new clutch, rebuilt the hydraulic lift and pump, repaired the sheet metal, repaired the entire front wheels and axle, new brakes, new rear hubs, rebuilt the steering box, repaired the radiator, new tie rod seals, new gauges, new gaskets, all new fasteners, stripped and mostly painted, and a boatload of new parts - I have kept track of all expenses, and my running total is sitting at $4,100 and change. I gaurantee an NAA in the mechanical shape mine is in is worth at least that. And, I am sure the NAA he is looking at is in better shape than the one I started with. I could have reduced this amount if all I was looking to do is JUST get it on it's feet.

And just for grins I replaced the hacked up left step with one that had a good original toolbox still installed and working - included in the above cost..

Respectfully,
Dan

There ya go, $600 is more in line with what I think that tractor"s worth, but personally I would not give $1000. Theres just better candidates out there for that money. Why buy a total basket case that needs everything when for just a little more you can get one that only needs half as many repairs, is my thinking.

I didnt realize you were the Dan of "Project Rustbucket" fame, I admire what you have been able to get done on your project.

Repro fenders, dog legs, and grill are available, but I don't believe the hood and other sheet metal parts are. Would have to check with salvage yards or e-bay for these. For a Jubilee in the condition you've stated, I wouldn't pay more than salvage prices. You could well spend a lot more than buying one in running condition.

I'd guess at $100-500, depending on the rear tires if good the high side if bad the low side

The sheet metal is available. I think it is around $500 for the complete new hood assembly (minus grill). The fenders would be extra also. You might find a good used set if look hard.

The Jubilee is a fine machine. Good luck with it.
