I"m fixing to spend serveral hundred dollars on a zane thang and some control valves just so i can dump a 3-pt cement mixer (for an 8n) does anyone have a better idea? can"t find a mixer than doesn"t use a hydraultic cylinder to dump the mixer

My 12 volt equipped 8n had a used cement mixer attached when I first saw it at the implement dealer.

The lift Quadrant was locked and tagged out w/ chain. There was a small electric hydraulic pump attached to one rear fender to drive the top link.

Never got to see it operate as I had them remove it to make the deal.

The N tractors can dump a cement mixer with a hydraulic cylinder without all the extra pumps and plumbing. There is an auxilliary port on the right side of the belly mounted hydraulic pump (under the step plate) that can be tapped into. A special fitting is needed, which is probably still available either at the New Holland dealer or aftermarket. The hydraulic dump cement mixers I've seen lock the 3-point in one position, which is required to used the auxilliary port, and use the cylinder to dump the mixer. The PTO is usually used to rotate the drum.

Air on the same cylinder. Is your 8N still 6-volt or has it been converted to 12? If you have a 12-volt it would be easy to hook up a small 12-volt compressor to an air bottle. Heck, you could bungie cord the whole thing onto the tractor. Any pnuematic instrument supplier can get you a 1/4" Versa valve, which is the same as a 3-port hydraulic control. Versa valve should be under 50 bucks

That is a 5 port valve, but just plug the port you don't need. You need an air inlet, exhaust, cylinder extend, cylinder retract, so you should have all the ports you need with the valve you have.If you could get your hands on one of those portable oxygen bottles,(clean it out real good), that should work with even a cheap 12-volt compressor. Buy yourself a couple dozen feet of 1/4 plastic tubing and fittings and you're in business!

The 1/4 inch plastic tubing you get for your refrigerator water hook up is rated about 200 psi at 70 degrees. I don't think you're going to need that much pressure to get the cylinder to actuate. Just about any place you can buy a versa valve, you can get the tubing and fittings you need. One good brand name of tubing is "PolyFlow", but any pnuematic air tubing will be just fine.
