I installed my new radiator and the fan doesn't clear the overflow tube or the bottom hose connection for the radiator. It's tilted as far forward as I can tilt it. The fan will turn but it rubs in these spots.

Grind off some of the edge of the fan blades?

Is there another trick?

Rob..... ...NO! don't grind yer fanblades. It'll un-balance them.

Inspect yer radiator mounting bracket/frontaxle bracket for wear/distortion.

You did put new radiator rubber mounting pads between yer radiator and mounting bracket, didn't you?..... ..Dell

The mounting bracket doesn't seem to be bent.

I used pieces of radiator hose for mounting pads. Actually, if I removed them the fan might clear the bottom hose connector, but not by much.

Lay a straight edge across the front of the axle support to check true. If there is any bow that results in moving the radiator closer the the engine. Can"t do that because there"s no room to start with. Two indicators of a bent axle housing are a radiator showing up with a leaky core within the 3" or 4" around the lower hose bib. The axle beats against the lower hose and ruins the core. Second indicator is the king pin does not fit flush with the axle support on the back end of the pin. Pin seems maybe 1/8" or so short.
You are thinking up and down but the real problem can well be front and back. When it fits right there isn"t but 1/4" between the fan blade tip and the shroud which lays right against the lower hose.
Anyway, figure out why your radiator failed. What was wrong with that radiator, leaky core down by the lower hose bib or something else?
