How hard is it to convert an 8N to Biodiesel? How is it done?
I'm pondering the idea. Rick T.

I have access to an abundance of used fryer oil. I have heard of people making Biodiesel with some success, and inexpensively. Time being worth zero, about six cents a gallon. But my time is worth more than zero, and it does not sound like it would be productive for me to do. Thanks for all the replies, much obliged. Rick T.

ratropia..... ....why? Theres a reason the gasoline powered 26hp 8N sold better than the TVO bio-diesel 18hp abbomination. Besides having to deal with 2-fuels and starting on gasoline before converting over to TVO kerosine/diesel fuel, TVO conversion parts are NOT AVAILABLE. There were very few TVO versions sold stateside. Most TVO's went overseas to 3rd-world countrys where they could also use readily available kitchen stoveoil. Except for "braggin' rights" at tractor shows, donnna mucka'round with weird fuels..... ...Dell

I do believe you would have to change engines on it since its a gas burner and biodiesel is diesel just made from veggies

dont even think about it, the little N engine is very thrifty for a tractor, converting a gas engine to a diesel is possible with enough time and money, but they are a disaster, [ remember the gm 5.7 disaster of the late '70s] no power, and very short life, and full of problems, besides, diesel is more expencive than gas now as im reminded every morning when i choke up around 150.00 so i can take my kenworth to work

You wouldn't convert it to a straight diesel engine.. you would do as Dell mentioned... and in effect be converting it from an 8N to an 8NAN, and useing a vaporizing kero carborator setup... very spendy.. though as Dell mentioned.. would have bragging rights!
