The test port on the bottom of the hydraulic unit needs to have an adaptor made that screws
into the threads (3/8"?) and converts to a
hose fitting that will drive the UP force on the
attachment.
Don't expect to drive a down cylinder off the same port or there will not be a way to dumpthe UP cylinder.
Of coarse you should chain down the lift arms
when you want to use the aux.
I find my Suder FEL works pretty fast with the
set up.
I also have a dump va;ve so that I can lower the FEL quickly.

What do you want to drive with the hygraulics?

The bottom right side plug that you mention is called the test port. I think it is a 1/2"-20 thread. Good luck in finding a fitting unless you are handy and can drill out a bolt. The hydraulics on the N series Fords are lame. Really only made to lift the 3 point. Yes you can tap in to the test port to run an auxilary item like a loader. You have to chain down the 3 point to divert the oil to the test port. I saw an 8N with a loader that was raised off the internal hydraulics. It was sloow to raise the bucket but it did work.
Good luck
Jerry

The last 8N was the 1952 model??? The 1953 Ford tractor was an NAA series.

See the link below for information on installing live hydraulics on the N Ford tractors.
