How many fill spots are there on an 8n tractor as far as the hydro, tranny and differential are concerned. I have only found one and that is by the shift lever. Does one fill opening fill all three compartments?

One hydraulic / transmission oil fill -- three drains.

It is all one interconnected compartment.
Takes about 4 1/2 gallons.

I remove all three plugs beneath and the side drain below pump. Put it in slowly, but only about three gallons go in before it flows out the side port.

You might consider the benefits of draining all 3 (sub?)compartments and washing it out with some diesel (or kerosene, the solvent of your choice) several times. Don't be afraid to get your hand in there and work loose that gallon and a half of sludge that stuck in the bottom there...

Then refill with fresh oil.

And make sure the tractor is on relatively level ground.
