A had to replace a twisted PTO shaft on an N (side Distributor) I recently purchased, after painfully having to cut the shaft 3 times...
Went ahead and put a new piston/leather ring in while I was there, I now find that the when I lower the height adjustment arm more than about a third of the way down it just drops to the bottom... what's that about?

You help is always greatly appreciated.
Robert.

RKH,
Cutting the shaft three times should have kept you out of trouble for a while!
On the lift problem, I am presuming you are talking about the handle dropping down by itself??? There is a cork friction disk just inboard of the handle and an adjusting nut against a spring at the end of the shaft. Cork could be worn out or the disc may not be flat.

The part that you change the height of the lift arms is called the touch control handle. This is the handle that you have your hand on when raising or lowering the lift.

Without more info.. I'd suspect worn cam follower pin ( or badly groved cam.. or both ), though certainly could be a bent control arm, not actuating the valve to full throw, or even a simple misadjustment on the quadrant.

With you lift all the way up.. what height does it reach? ( in other words is it picking up 'all the way'? )

I fthe pin is half way gone.. you will loose range of motion.. same with the quadrant or bent control arm.

You can check the control arm by removingt he 6" side cover. Might even be able to reach up and around to finger the cam follower pin?? Would be roughly ont he back side of where your hytrol lever goes thru

I agree, If Dell is so right and pure than let him defend for himself. Like I said before, Dell is running people off to the other forums with his self centered bashing !

Dell, You really have a way with people. To bad it's the wrong way. I think you should move to one of the lesser used boards. We would appreciate it. James

He told ya it was a side mount, what more do ya need? You might try using more smiley faces for those without a sense of humor. (%^) DON TX

Don,

I don't think it matters in this situation if it's a side mount or not. Robert is kindly asking for help for his hydraulics.

respectfully...John

No John, it doesn't matter if it's s/m or f/m. And the fact that you missed the humor in that, proves my point. Thank you. Dell's point is, more info is needed. The way Robert wrote the post leaves a lot to the imagination or a lot to assume. I had to learn the ways of the internet like most. Thick skin and the ability to laugh at yourself helps alot. Lets see if Robert can handle Dell's post or if he needs someone to stand up fo him. DON TX

Don,

I don't see Dell's point either. But it appears you do. I'm not standing up for Robert like you say I'm doing. But it appears your standing up for your buddy Dell.

Remember Don, being somewhat knowledgeable about the N-tractor doesn't give you the right to be rude to people. Does it? No matter how thick or thin your skin is, you should treat people with respect.

Thanks,
John

Tug,

Best just to ignor Dell and do not read his replies. His rudeness and arrogance gets worse by the day. There are other tractor forums out there that do not tolerate this.

John
