For some strange reason my 9n dies after operating for 30 minutes or so. I suspect that there is something electrical that kills the engine. Any suggestions about what could be happening?

Dell (WA)'s diagnostics in reply to MANDOLIN JON, 04-22-2005 18:09:25
Runs one-minute and quits = condenser. Starts up again and quits again.
Runs three- to five-minutes and quits = fuel line screens. Will stumble and not start unless you wait a few or several minutes.
Runs 15-minutes and quits = ignition switch. Will restart or not after some several minutes. It will do it again after lunch.
Runs 40- to 60-minutes and quits = front-mount coil. Needs to cool off for an hour or so.

Thanks for the input guys. I think it is the coil because of Del's diagonsis fits. The spark plugs are new. I just recently reset the points but I didn't replace the condensor. However, the coil is older than the points and condensor which were new when I got the tractor. It don't think its gas line problems because I have gone through that check.

Do some diagnostics. next time it dies.. pull a plug wire and have a spare plug handy.. do a spark check. If you have spark.. check for fuel at the bottom plug ont he carb. Once you find out which system is a t fault.. check p the line.

My bet is electrical.

More than likely it"s your ignition switch or maybe your coil. To check the ignition switch just jumper across it the next time it dies. Jmaes
