I just purchased a 9n. It runs fine, however it is a little slow to start and the oil pressure is low-runs a little under twenty. I'm sure the oil needs to be changed but it's not thick or black. Any ideas on why the oil pressure stays low, or is this normal??

Slow to start is most likely points need replaced..Pull a plug and leave it attached to the wire, ground it on top of the engine and crank it over.. Should see strong Blue spark. If not I'd replace the points first. Set on .015..

Take Upper's advice. I wish my 8N had 20 psi! Slow to start could be any spark or gas related problem. Welcome to the family!

There are several reasons your oil presure can be low. Your oil presure is good at 20 and nothing to be concerned about. There is no relation between slow to start and the oil presure.

1More. Nothing to worry about with 20 lb. pressure. Many of us have been running our tractors with around 5-10 lbs hot for years. Being a new tractor to you, I would change all the fluids as the first thing. Slow to start could be many things, such as dirty or bad plugs, points need cleaning, regapping or changing. Battery is weak, electrical connections are dirty and need cleaning, spark plug wires need replacing, carb needs cleaning, water in gas, etc. This will give you an idea. Take the easiest ones first. Post as you need help.Good luck with the new one. Ron
