My 9N/2N got it"s wiring rearranged for it"s 12 system. It"s wired per Neil"s diagram for front mount on MyOldFords.com except it has no headlights, a six volt coil and a 10306 resistor in line to the coil. Points closed, I get battery voltage at the coil. Shouldn"t it be "dropped" to something at or below 6 volts?

If the voltage on top of the coil doesn't change when you bump the engine over to close the points.. then the points aren't closing...

If you have the6 v oem coil, the ballast resistor, and the dropping resistor, and you still have full batt volts at the top of the coil, then you have miswired the resistors ou of the line.. or like I said.. points aint really closing...

Double check this.. if you 'know' the resistors are in line, then pop your coil of f the distribuitor, and leave your meter hooked up to the top post.. now touch the springy contact to ground.. voltage should drop...
