Hi ya' all. I have a 49 8N 6 volt front mount dist.I would like to know how long can a key be in the on position before the battery will run down? Or does it have to do with the position of the points wether or not it will run down the battery?
Thanks Rick T.

The last time I did that, it was overnight... and I burned my points. The battery wasn't completely dead, but it did need a charge...

If the points are closed they can weld themselves togeather if the key is left on for a long period of time.

You can leave it on foreaver, as long
as the points are open. If there is
a neg 2 Amps they are closed and it will
kill the bat in a number of hours.
