I am fixin' to buy a paint sprayer. I have a 9N and a 2N to paint. So, I wanna do a good job on these tractors.

I have seen 4 types: an airless (Wagner) and 3 air compressor types, gravity feed, pressure feed and siphon feed.

I had a Wagner airless years ago and it didn't operate very well at all... spit and splattered. Maybe they've made them better since I owned one.

So, wadda y'all think about the choices? What are your experiences? Do I need a moisture filter with the air compressor types? Tips on usage?

Thanks in advance!
Patrick

I"ve got and used both CH standard cup gun and a CH HVLP gravity feed gun. The gravity feed gun FAR surpasses the cup gun for atomization and even coating. The cap fits on tightly enough not to spill and I"ve used it at every angle I ever used the cup gun at, upside down and backwards. This was my choice gun until someone gave me a turbine spray unit. It makes it"s own air and sprays flawlessly. HTH, Eric

I used a harbor freight syphon type.. mine was a 14.99 gun.. TSC sells a cheapy campbell hausfield gun for the same price.. pribably also chinese.

I've painted a few tractors now with superior results. In addition to the 14.99 gun you need an air regulator and an air filter.

I bought the combo air filter/de-waterer/oiler/ regulator at harbor freight for 20 bucks. and just NEVER have put oil in it. If you buy the tsc brand.. they make a 9.99 campbell hausfield regulator, and alos sell inline disposable paper media type water filters for 4.99 each. My guess is you could safely paint a tractor, then discard the filter and replace befor ehte next job.. etc

The gravity feed guns are a pain... you'll find you may need to paint something at an angle where paint spills from the top tank..etc. I never have liked te airless guns.. etc.

Here's an example of what a 15$ gun, 20$ reg/fitler, and a 89$ pancake compressor can put out.
