I need to replace my exhaust manifold. Its getting really loud and I can feel the leak with my hand. This site has two , one for 50.00 and one for 100.00. The $100 is made in the USA. I've read the archives and some claim modifications were needed with cheaper ones. Will I be saving myself some fit problems by paying 50.00 more or has someone bought a 50.00 dollar one and had a good fit. Has anyone ever used the dual exhaust manifold, it claims to boost horsepower?

Someone actually makes a dual exhaust manifold for N Fords? Sounds like a novelty to me. Tractor engines are low speed, high torque engines. As a result they have small ports and valves. Dual and/or low restriction exhausts can increase maximum horsepower only if the original exhaust produces too much back pressure for the engine to efficiently scavange spent exhaust gasses. Might help on your high performance automobile but you will realize only a visual effect on your N.

When I replaced the exhaust manifold on my 51 8N I inspected both the TISCO and Ford manifolds at my NH dealer. Both seemed fine but I chose the NH part because it was only about $7 more expensive than the TISCO and was noticeably heavier. Thought that the extra metal might result in longer life. It fit fine and I am sure that the TISCO would have as well. I doubt that either were US made.

Amazing! What will they think of next!? When they offer one with both dual exhausts AND dual carburetors I will buy one. Of course, I will probably need to bore, port, and relieve the block, stroke the crank, install high compression pistons and a finned high compression head to take full advantage of the manifold. This should enable me to twist it to 5000 RPM or so and produce 80-100 HP for a few hours or days. Now the cat's meow would be an ARDEN OHV head! Think of the possibilities. At 5000 RPM my 8N with Sherman combo ought to reach nearly 60 MPH!

I must admit though, that the dual exhaust set up would look cool at a show.

The one I purchased to replace the one on my tractor was made in Turkey and fits fine. It even has the original Ford part number in the casting so it looks like they used the original molds.

With the small size if the exhaust ports in the block, I doubt you would get much power boost from a dual exhaust mainfold.

Another thing to look for...Originals had a plugged hole in the manifold for connection of a vacuum gauge..I drilled and tapped my new China made manifold so I could use it. I did not know that it had no port and att hat time I did not know to look for one.Fits fine.. Bought on ebay..About $40 shipped to my door.

I have several tractors. One with a China manifold always leaked oil from valve covers. Turns out the manifold casting was too big and overhung valve covers and when torqued down, pressed in on the covers, casusing them to leak. Problem corrected with 4.5" dewalt rotary file. Manifold still in use. I also bought from someone on ebay a US made one. 2 complaints are that the letters in the mold Made in USA are upside down when bolted on the tractor it looked so stupid I ground them off like the made in China on the other maifold. Also, the fit with the sand molds was so poor that the finished casting looked bad where the mold halves were. While not functionally bad, it looked bad and I cleaned up with die grinders. All in all they both looked about the same so it kind of hurts to spend twice as much. The US manifold seems to have a better machined area to attach the exhaust
My 2 cents.

the old one though.
