when i go to start her up the starter kicks out as soon as she fires, and usually that means it hasnt started yet. my battery is weak and if the starter would not cut out so quickly i wouldnt have to boost it as often help and thanks

Put one of the new positive drives on it, there is one listed on ebay at the present time. Item# 5577472376. The new drive sure makes the removal and installation of the starter much easier to.

If you know the battery is weak replace it. Its hard on the starter to use a weak battery.

A quality, modern, starter drive will lock into the cranking position until the engine "catches" and then be kicked out. They are a great improvement over the originals.

yeah, 1-post about new fangled clutch starter drive falling apart ...but... about a zillion posts about old fangled Bendix drive falling apart and parts being stored in the tranny housing..... ...Dell (grin)

I've had a positive drive bendix on for two years that Dell helped me install, no problems yet!
