The hydraulic lift on my 52 8N seems to work fine. The problem I have is that the coltrol lever has to be all the way up to get the lift to lift. If I want to raise it slightly I have to pull the lever all the way up and then lower it to my desired height. If I go to low by mistake I have to repeat these steps. Is this how these lifts work or do the linkages need ajustment? I would think that if I wanted to raise the lift slightly I could just move the control lever up slightly. I"m new to this tractor and am not sure if it"s me or the tractor that needs ajustment.

Thanks for any help.

First off, I'd check to make sure that your hydraulics are in Postion Control mode (rather than Draft Control). Right side of the lift cover, under the seat, there's a short (~3") lever. It'll have 2 positions. Horizontal (to the front, this is Draft Control) and Vertical (straight up, this is Position Control).

Unless you're plowing... leave it in Position Control Mode...

Boy that's a good idea, I'm new to this stuff and not very mechanical. I did fidget with that lever but didn't try to raise the deck afterward, cannot recall what position it's in.
