I just finished rewiring my "49 8N yesterday. I put a new altenater on it (12V conversion). I reset the plugs. I also changed the spark plug wires. It run fine except for a poping noise from the carburator intake. I"ve adjusted everyway possible. I have to keep it half choked. Also while I was using the turning plow, the only way to get the thimg to pull is by putting it in the lowest gear possible. Then it runs to slow.(walking speed) any ideas?

Anonimous..... .....check your 4-nipple distibutor firing order, you just replace yer sparkie wires, good chance ya gottem swapped. Firing order is 1,2,4,3 CCW. That means

sparkie #1 is connected to nipple #1 at 10 o'clock
sparkie #2 is connected to nipple #2 at 8 o'clock
now PAY ATTENTION HERE 'cuz it gitts tricky
sparkie #4 is connected to nipple #3 at 4 o'clock
sparkie #3 is connected to nipple #4 at 2 o'clock
therefore fireing order is 1,2,4,3 CCW, isn't that AMAZING?

These N-Engines are sooo goood that they will start and run on just 2-sparkies until you try to make'm work like plowing. Usually its sparkies #3 & #4 reversed..... .....Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie=meister
