I double checked the spark plug wires (and even tried them in reverse, no crank that way) and they were correct. It cranked up fine, but it still misses like crazy. It blows sparkes out of the exaust and the intake of the carburator.

It will pull itself in high and low gears, just not with the plow on the back. Any suggestions.

Anymouse,
I got a tractor doing that. Isolated the problem to the distributor. (Swapped it with my other tractor's distributor and the problem moved.) Not the coil, not the points, bushings look good, weights are free, screws are correct and not stripped, gap and timing set, nothing shorted and nothing visual causing a problem. It's on the shelf right now. Next project is to swap part by part with the other distributor.
And Yes, I realize this is no help at all. SBT
Russ

You may have a problem with a valve. I'd do a compression test on it and see what you get.
