I bought an 8N that"s in good condition except that it has 24" wheels. They resemble the normal 28" wheels. Anybody know what model Ford tractor these 24" wheels might have been from?

Well, I don't like the way it looks--going up hill all the time. If I can't find anyone to trade with how wide of a tire could I put on these 24" rims?....and would it look much better duyasuppose? Incidently, these 24" rims are not welded to the rims. The rims are fastened to the dish wheels with 6 rim bolts which go through loops welded to the rims. Factory mfg. I'm sure. What does this mean??

I have a Ford 2110 LCG that has 24" rears. (LCG is Low Center of Gravity, thus the smaller rears and a cut down front spindle.) The bolt pattern is the same as that on the 8N - I have interchanged 8N rears and 2110/3000 rears. BUT the 24" rims are all-in-one, that is the center and rim are welded together so I get only two width settings, rim center concave or convex.

Of course you may have rears like Dell said, really 28" but marked 24". So the question for you to answer is, are the rims bolted to the center disks or not? I would love to have 24" rims that bolted to the center disk, but I do not think Ford made any like that and I have not seen any on the few other tractors I have looked at.

Regards,
Larry

gpogpo..... ....my '52 8N has 14.9-24 ag-bar tires on 13-24 rims from a MASSY HARRIS. (before merger with Ferguson)

Yer 8N came from the factory with 10.0-28 ag-bar tires on 9-28 rims that yer Fed Gov't SAFETY hounds re-measured to be 11.2-28 in the 70's so the tire manufacturers just relabled the 10-28's to be 11.2-28 and now BIG BROTHER is happy and I am now safe to drive my 8N 100mph. (grin)..... ...Dell

Holy Mackerel! When I opened this up I expected to discover that on tonights episode of 24 that Jack Bauer would be seen defending the President by shooting at the bad guys while zooming through the streets of Wash DC on his trusty 8N.....the Sherman will be in high of course.

Please excuse my very poor attempt at humor. I've had a long Monday and could not resist.

While the 28" centers are the most common.. lots of us have 24" centers. My NAA has some 16.9 x 24 big turf jobs mounted on a nice beefy cast-looking centers. Fellow listmember Dell, I believe, has 13.9x24 on what he is calling 'petal' style centers.

I've seen hundred series and fergy tractors with 24" centers.. but don't have a clue as to what tractor may have come OEM with them..
