I am replacing my muffler assembly and re-using the rear muffler pipe bracket that came with my 9N. I never noticed it before but it does not hold the outlet pipe firmly in place. Is this normal? Thanks. NYT

Tom, up until about 1950,the tractors used a two piece muffler and tail pipe. The tail pipe was bigger than on the one piece muffler and tail pipe used today. That is why the clamp does not fit and acts as a hanger only. don b

Maybe they're made that way in reply to NewYorkTom, 05-09-2005 18:48:50
Tom,
The brackets (part number 9N 5260)on my too-N and early 8N are the same. They look like they're for a larger pipe. Keeps it off the ground so I don't sweat it.
