I need some feedback and help. I am thinking of leasing my 1200 acre ranch for RV camping, hunting, trapping, fishing, and just plain ole family fun. I am looking for a discussion board, like this one, only for hunting. Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Wishes,
Roland Jackson

Try HuntingNet.Com or www.tracker-outdoors.com/ or www.qdma.org We lease 3,200 acres here in North Florida on which we run a deer/hog hunting club. Low number of hunters, family environment, etc. It can be done, but as others have pointed out, remember insurance (we carry $1 Million) and signed and witnessed releases. There will always be some headaches. Good Luck

You can download a hunting lease contract fom the web that each hunter must sign before having access to your property.

Where is your land located?

Thanks for all the help. My ranch is located in South West Kansas...and I live here. I was thinking of finding a family (just one) that would like to lease my place as a get-away. Their own personal camp ground...so to speak. Where they could hunt...and fish...explore and just have fun. While a family reunion would be fine with me, I would not want large numbers of people out here..and we would hash that out up front. And I would get a lawyer involved with insurance for protection. Thanks so much for your thoughts...and help.

Try the North American Hunting Club at www.huntingclub.com. They have a member forum where folks can advertise/sell/trade outdoors related items, including real estate. I'm not sure, but you may need to be a member to log in.

Wait until they get thru tearing up your land with 4-wheelers in the mud, making trails and tracks you never dreamed possible, ...cutting down your large trees, and burning them up (or taking the wood home), shooting everything in sight as slob-hunters, (caught a bunch of yay-hoos shooting indescriminately at night, spotlighting entire colony/families of blinded, defenseless raccoons, in their tree, etc.) ... They called THAT "hunting"...and then sued for canellation of their contract. The damages they caused to the land far outweighed the income they produced considering the trouble, insurance, etc etc. Never again. Never in my lifetime will the wildlife recover to their previous numbers, and the land will be forever marred by their reckless behavior. (These were so-called "businessmen and sportsmen", and were members of the previously mentioned "sportsmen" club which originally approached the family for the lease.)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, this would be my worst fear. If I decide to do this, I have to be careful who I lease to and have rules which will be in the contract for protection down the road.

Thanks for opening my eyes...
