I have been working on a ford 8n tractor for my brother in law, and when he got it, it didnt have a stich of wiring on it. Ive redone the whole thing and got it to run, BUT... I cant get the engine to stop running or the battery from stop draining.. It has a 6volt system, and I have only a single poll switch to control everything, I think I need a double poll switch, one to control the generator to battery and one to control the ignition. If anyone has a wiring diagram that can help me I would be very greatful, thanks in advance.

Bart,
Second or third one down depending on whether it's a front mount or side mount.

Bart..... ..yer 8N came from the factory with just a single pole on/off key switch for ignition control. Iff'n you re-wired yer BIL's tractor, then guess what? ya mucked up. Unfortunately, I flunked mind reading (just ask my ex-wife) and don't know exactly where you might have messed up. Probably sumptin to do with the terminal strip under yer ammeter.

Also did you remember to re-polarize yer voltage regulator? There is a "cut-off" relay that disconnects the battery from the genny when the engine stops running. Iff'n you don't polarizer yer voltage regulator, guess what? yer battery gonnna discharge thru yer genny guttz.

You can re-polarize yer 8N's squarecan voltage regulator under yer oilpressure gauge as many times as you think it might need it. Just "ARC-SPARK" yer voltage regulator's BATT & ARM terminals with HEAVY YELLOW wires attached. I use a wideblade screwdriver but you can use rusty barbwire iff'n you want. DO NOT MUCK with the 2-skinny black wires. Simple, eh?..... ...Dell
