...don't look so stupid today! I have achieved what I believe is zero end play and zero bearing load. I had to buy four expensive CNH shims to make it happen, but I should get my money's worth if it lasts another 50 years or so.

Thanks guys, and especially to Dan of Project Rustbucket fame, who has a new indian name - Patience-of-Job.

Glad to hear it went together again - you definately have more patience than me. Your CNH guys are definately more helpful than my local crew! I take it you got the good metal shims... Mine were the cheapo paper shims, the original metal ones were snapped in several places, thought about re-using them but decided against it.

Hope you never have to open it up again in your lifetime!
