This will be easier than standing in knee-high wet quack grass and looking for lost bolts in the dead oak leaves. Nice to have her back up to the house where the tools are! You guessed it, she runs! The dreaded "curse of the carburetor" is broken. Prior to this NO machine has run again after I touched the carb unless I paid someone to fix it. I am going to have a bit of lunch and do the adjustments. Scared me a little at first as gas poured from the carb at first (flooded) and then it ran and stalled. Figured out that the fuel was low enough that I had to turn the knob out all the way to get to the reserve....nice feature. Thanks to everybody who helped with my first carb rebuild! The best of the answers and the ones that worked have been pasted to a Word file and will be printed as a FAQ format and put in a notebook as a supplement to my I&T manual.
But it ain't over yet!

I will still be making my adjustments this afternoon. The engine sounds sweet BUT a couple of things were noticed. First, the throttle arm on the DASH will not slide down and touch the notch on the low side (idle). Second, there is only one engine speed for the first three quarters of movement of the dash throttle control after which it throttles up smoothly when you move the arm the last quarter of the way. Lastly, I would mention that there was no back fire during operation or shut down. Any comments on this information that might help me with adjustments would be appreciated. Thanks! Dave

Oh, I almost forgot...the dripping gas that was the reason I tore down the carb has stopped dripping. I think I will use the shutoff in the future, but for a week or so here I am going to leave it open and enjoy the drip free carb.

Its always a good idea to shut them off even if they don't leak, not good when they start leaking and your in bed and you end up with gas in the oil. If you don't know about it that could mean an engine that goes bang. Them carbs are pretty easy to rebuild and now that you have done one you have also done most other tractor carbs since they are almost all like that one. As far as the the lever for your gas you may need to adjust it a little to get full movement on it, and the thing where you don't seem to notice it spinning up at first may be just that you don't here that is is. Going from say 400rpm to 500 isn't much and its hard to here.
