Danged if I cannot get this 2N to start now. It has gas. The battery was charged this AM. The key is on. Two cranks and I pull the choke. It worked this morning after a little trial and error but not now. The tractor has done this before. I can best describe what happens as cranking for a short bit (after two cranks I pull the choke) and then there is a kinda of "phlubb" followed by a long drawn out wheezing noise. A certain amount of gas always comes out of the carb drain hole when the tractor doesn't fire right up and you stop cranking. What am I doing wrong?

Gas runs out? Called flooding. That"s how you now it"s flooded, gas runs out. Two cranks RELEASE the choke. Two cranks is a lot of choke in warm weather.

Early manual says; "[s]et throttle four or five notches from top and turn on ignition switch. Pull choke out and hold for an instant ONLY [emphasis in the service manual], while the starter cranks the engine. Cold weather will require holding the choke slightly longer." Later manuals say; “turn the ignition switch on, and partially open the throttle. Hold the clutch pedal down, and press the starter button. If the engine does not start promptly, pull the choke button out for several engine revolutions. Use the choke as needed until the engine runs smoothly.” If it doesn’t start the first time, don’t use the choke the second or third time. Maybe choke some the fourth time. Gotta go easy on the choke.
