Hello,

I am looking to buy an "n" tractor. I have been looking at them for several weeks now both locally and on the net. I"m starting to understand the slight differences. There is a lot of them out there and it can become over whelming trying to sort them all out.

I have about 3 acr.to mow and do some light work around the house. I see using an finish mower, blade, maybe a tiller or post hole digger(the last two very little)

My question is:
1)Is there one N better than another, what should I stay away from due to model or year problems.

2) does one N have better features than the others that should play a part in my decision making?

3) what is a fair price for one in good working order, with good paint and tires? $2000 $2500? $3000? Pricing seems to have a wide range from $2000.00-$4500.00

Thanks
art

art,
More complete answers are available. In the left column of this page under "Research & Info," click "Articles." Two of the first ones refer to buying a tractor. Won't make anyone an instant expert, but helps with the decisions. If you want the N, John Smith has written a good article on how to check the important stuff. If you take the time to browse his whole site, you'll see he has been in and on quite a few of these machines. Good luck,
Russ

You can"t put a tiller on the N because her ground speed is too fast.

Like old pointed out.. you can look for a late model 8n.. that will have side distribuitor, adjustable steering, and realy late models have alower revers gear. if you need live hyds.. go for a 53- NAA.

If you is wanting an N I'd be looking for say a 1950-1952, late 50 by the way. Its the one with the side dist. They are in my oppion a little better the the ones with front dist.
