Today when I started pushing my tractor back together
I jiggled it a lot and heard a sloshing noise
from the rear tires. Wonder what is in there.
I know tires get filled for weight and traction.
But how can I find out what they were filled with.
I sure hope it's not calcium chloride.

I was surprised to find out they were filled.
I didn't know anything was in there.

If they're filled and you're getting good traction, and there are no leaks, then maybe let sleeping dogs lie. Unless it's a show tractor and even a speck of rust will be a buzz-kill, those rims will provide years or even decades of service no matter what they're filled with.

Pooh..... ...99% probablility yer rear tires have been filled with the CHEAP Calcium Chloride (CaCl) which both adds weight and acts as anti-freeze and EATS YER RIMS. And while yer reartires could have been filled with other anti-feeze additives; like used automobile anti-freeze (it doesn't damage rubber); or upto 23 gals of $1/gal windshield washer fluid; or 23-gals of RV holding tank anti-freeze; or 23-gals of modern heavy and SWEET sugarbeet pulp.

Iff'n you just gotta know, do a taste/smell sample by pushing yer little valve stem titt an some of what ever fluid will leak out and you just gotta SMELL or rubb yer fingertips together (some anti-freeze is slick) or taste yer fingertip. CaCl is SALTY; Automobile anti-freeze is sweet; windshield washer fluid is alcholic; and RV holding tank smells like pinesoll. Plain water (which you most likely DON'T have) is stale rubbery. Simple, eh?..... ....respectfully, Dell

when you push that valve stem to check is when you will start to have problems with leakage as it will probably not seal back up so be prepaired to change the whole watervalve and then wash down the whole tractor
