Today, with a lot of cumulative help, I learned how to set the idle on a carburetor and a lot more to boot. The ultimate problem with my fast idle was a sloppy fit on the throttle plate. Once fixed, this 2N now idles (after following all your generous setting tips) so slow that my daughter keeps walking by and telling me it's gonna stall any minute....but it doesn't. I'm happy I set that throttle plate wrong because I learned more fixing my mistake than I would have if it just worked right the first time. I still have to set the main needle and there is another problem that has cropped up, but for now I just want to thank everyone for the help so far. You know who you are!

How did you know! The kid wants a Farmall B. Probably get it too seeing as Dad wouldn't mind having one either!
