I removed mine from the rear studs on the inspection covers, but I noticed that the exploded drawing shows them mounting towards the rear, maybe the trumpet studs, could this be?

third party image

The sector plate mounts on the two rear-most bolts of the inspection covers with the teeth facing towards the rear as Sounder posts. The pawls mount on the arms that attach to the brake actuator shaft and are side specific. The pawls go on the inside of this arm closest to the housing and the arm that mounts to the pawl post and swivels the pawl is on the outside.

You can kinda see this on this pic.

Good luck,
Dan

Never mind, I see that the pawls are the same, and the sectors are different, but that part is figured out. The locking arms are a bit confusing, once assembled, it looks like the left will lift to lock and the right will push down to lock, or am I just not seeing it right?

gettin dumber all the time,
Ramrod

Since my NAA is still being assembled, I have not had the opportunity to use these parking brakes yet. But - that is how my 8N parking brakes work, one side you push up to lock it into place, and the other side you push down into place to lock. If you want can give it a look see tonight. I just put mine back on how they came off and made sure not to switch the left/right sides.

Well, the pawl goes on the inside of the arm attached to the brake actuator shaft closest to the hydraulic housing, and the pin that goes through this arm is welded(?) to the pawl. There is only one way each pawl can go on and still be on the inside of that arm with the teeth on the pawl facing the brake sector plate that is mounted on the rear of the inspeection covers.

Do a test fit on these pawls to ensure they lock into the sector plates before you finalize the fitment.
