How do you remove the lift arms from the shaft in the lift cover? Is it a stright or tapered spline? Need to remove the ram arm 47 2N.

Bob,
The splines are straight. The spline in the middle that holds the ram arm is bigger in diameter, so to get the shaft out one of the bushings will have to come out. Be very careful, I have broken 2 lift covers trying to remove the shaft and bushings. Be patient!!!!. Heat, cool, repeat, soak with penetrating fluid, heat, cool, repeat. Oh, most important be careful!!

Great advice, Jim.

I too busted my 8N lift cover trying to remove the rock shaft and bushings with a hydraulic press. If I had read your advice before then I beleive I could have avoided busting my lift cover. I didn't realize the center of the rockshaft (where the ram arm goes) was bigger in diameter than the ends (where the lift arms go).
You live and learn, I guess.

Thanks goodness Don B. sold me a good used lift cover. Rick H. Ga.
