I bought an 8N at the time the 3 pt worked fine with a load. I changed out the trans/hydraulic fluid. Now the hydraulics don't work at all. The 3 pt will go up and down with help but not with a load. I did not change any filters. I have not gotten into the problem yet and would appreciate any suggestions or starting point..

Sounds like you have internal leaks and a heavier fluid would help but your leaks are substantial and need fixing.
Pull off the dipstick plate and watch what sprays and swirls as a load on the lift leaks down. Spray or stream from top is a leaky lift cylinder and rings and piston and maybe cylinder is the fix. And gaskets. Anyway, take a look and it might be something else.
You can lower the fluid level until you can see the leak. Make sure you know exactly where the leak is coming from before you remove all the fluid and take it apart.

What hydraulic fluid did you put back into it? Basically there are two fluids you can choose from here, New Holland's MC134, and the older style GL-1 mineral oil. The GL-1 is what your tractor originally came with and is a lot thicker. If you have leaks in your hydraulics, the GL1 leaks slower than the MC134. So your hydraulics are stronger. Of course, in the winter the GL1 fluid is sooooo thiiiiick your hydraulics will move veeeeerrrrr yyyyy slooowwww! The MC134 is a better choice in those conditions.
