Here I goes, demonstrating my lack of mechanical knowledge again. After I have tried all the great advice this weekend from my previous post....

If I decide to pull the 2N with one of my other iron monsters, is there a procedure to follow so that I don't break something else?

And....Dell, I have thought about it and I don't know why everything electrical runs on smoke. Whazup with that? :-)

That is called "letting the smoke out of it". If you "let the smoke out of it", like Don T said, it don't work no more:-). Rick

The only thing I can add to what Rick sez is get a long tow rope/chain, and it will probably take 15-20 seconds or more before it will fire; it is not going to fire as soon as you let the clutch out (in 4th gear, as Rick said). Do not pop the clutch. Just ease it out.

I have pull started my 49 8N several times over the years. There should not be a problem as long as nothing is locked up or knocking. You have to have two people, of course.

The key is to make sure the tractor being pulled is in high gear, ignition switch is on, gas bowl valve is open and you have some breaks.

If you try to pull it in low gear the back tires will just skidd on the ground.

Pull starting a tractor is a last resort to get the thing cranked.

Good luck with it. Rick H. Ga.
